We think it’s one and the same thing.
Hypothetical Scenario:
You have your extinguishers serviced once a year by a relatively unknown supplier to you. You pay the relatively small invoice, have no contact with your fire protection supplier and wait till next years visit.
You have a fire... The extinguisher hasn’t been filled, tested or serviced correctly... It doesn’t work. You have a fire that

- The staff did not know how to use them on different types of fires.
These incidents result in losses of more than 300 million pounds per year to UK businesses in terms of lost production, premises and legal actions.
What can you do?
- Service your Equipment
- Ensure that ALL of your systems are checked by qualified and accredited suppliers – like Shires.
- Ensure you receive a good level of Service from your supplier
- Engage with your Fire Protection supplier. Have detailed discussions on the effectiveness of your current systems and procedures. If the engineer cannot answer your questions satisfactorily, change your supplier. All shires engineers are qualified to provide full consultations on just how safe you are and what your alternatives are.
- Train your staff on what to do in a fire emergency. Which extinguisher to use and how to use it correctly.Send them to qualified suppliers to receive fire training, from experts. Don't forget new staff, ensure that extinguisher and fire training is part of your induction process for new starters.
